Open Access Policy
1.1 Open Access Model
Kmed Journal operates under a gold open access model. All published articles are immediately and permanently freely available to read, download, and share. There are no subscription fees, paywalls, or embargoes. Readers worldwide have unrestricted access to all content.
This model is supported by Article Processing Charges (APCs) paid by authors, their institutions, or their funders upon acceptance of manuscripts.
1.2 Article Processing Charges
The APC covers the costs of peer review coordination, copyediting, typesetting, XML/HTML generation, DOI registration, hosting, archiving, and long-term preservation. APC amounts vary by journal and article type. Current fees are available on each journal's homepage and in the author guidelines.
APCs are payable only upon acceptance. There are no submission fees, and rejected manuscripts incur no charges.
1.3 Fee Waivers and Discounts
Kmed Journal offers full or partial fee waivers for authors who demonstrate genuine financial hardship, particularly for researchers from low- and middle-income countries (as classified by the World Bank). Waiver requests must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission and will be evaluated by the editorial office.
Important: Fee waiver decisions are made independently of editorial and peer review decisions. Requesting a waiver will not influence the outcome of peer review or editorial assessment.
1.4 Funder and Institutional Compliance
Kmed Journal's open access model complies with the mandates of major research funders and institutions, including:
- NIH Public Access Policy (USA)
- UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) open access policy
- European Commission Horizon Europe open access requirements
- Wellcome Trust open access policy
Authors should check with their funder or institution for specific requirements. We are happy to work with authors to ensure compliance.
Note: These policies are subject to periodic review and update. Authors, reviewers, and readers should check this page for the most current version. Material changes to policies will be announced via the journal website and communicated to registered users. For questions or clarifications about any policy, please contact the editorial office at support@kmedjournals.com.
